Kate Dobbins was born in Oakland in 1938. She holds a BA & MA in English, has taught writing/literature as well as done a variety of other jobs. She has lived on the East Coast and in Europe. In the 1990s, she started taking art classes at Laney College (Oakland); then, in 2009, enrolled in the San Francisco Studio School, where she studied formal aspects of painting until the end of 2010. Her work is inspired by—among others—the Bay Area Figurative painters and the Society of Six landscapes. Her work is in private collections.
